Olympic Open Water Swimmer Wins Again

On March 12th 2001, Netherlands swimmer Maarten van der Weijden was diagnosed with leukemia and underwent a successful stem cell transplant.
On May 8th 2008, he won the 25k open water swimming World Championship.
Last night, he won the Olympic 10k Open Water Swim.

Nike+ Human Race 10K

The world’s largest running event is almost here. On August 31, you can make history with one million runners around the globe at the Nike+ Human Race 10K

The New York City race starts at 6:00 p.m. on Randall's Island and will be followed by an exclusive performance by The All-American Rejects. Space is limited, so register here.

Volunteering for this race and earn NYRR-member credit toward guaranteed entry eligibility for the ING New York City Marathon 2009.

Wait!!! Swimming Isn't Finished!

The pool events are over, but there are still two swimming events left: the men's and women's open water marathon swim (10k). It's a new event this year so hopefully they'll have some coverage

The women's race is 9pm tuesday, the men's 9pm wednesday.. If you thought the start of a triathlon was crazy, wait'll you see these fish duke it out...

RIP: Evan's 800 Record

IT took nearly two decades for it to happen, but the last world record from before the turn of the century finally fell in the women's 800 free. Rebecca Adlington became the new distance queen when she knocked off Janet Evans' 1989 mark of 8:16.22.
