Boston Marathon Coverage

Check in on your favorite runner's progress as the race unfolds with the Athlete Tracker, which will record the splits every 5k along the course, along with half marathon splits and projected finish time. You can also track athletes by team affiliation (though only a few NY area clubs are listed).

Another way to qualify for the marathon was recently introduced through Boston's Channel 5 NewsCenter: The Boston Marathon Challenge.

Four Contestants made the cut in the first round endurance test (run laps around the track until the judges decide that four people are ahead of the others), and underwent the Boston Marathon aptitude test . Three emerged from this test and pleaded their cases before the public, which voted by phone to reduce the field to two.

The two final players were blindfolded and driven to an undisclosed location in downtown Boston. When the blindfolds were removed, the contestants were asked to run to the finish line. The first one at the finish line won the official number.

Ironman Julie Lichty at JackRabbit this Sunday!

On Sunday April 4th, JackRabbit Sports hosts Julie Lichty, accomplished Ironman competitor and nutritionist from 12pm-4pm. Julie will be available to talk with endurance athletes about proper nutrition for peak performance, use of sports nutrition supplements during training and racing, as well as maintaining/losing body fat.
