ST CROIX FILLING FAST!
The St. Croix Half Ironman, taking place on Sunday, May 2, 2004 is filling rapidly. All athletes interested in competing in this event should sign up quickly to avoid being closed out of this prestigous event.
Considered to be one of the most challenging events in the Ironman family, St. Croix " is reknowned for "The Beast. Twenty-one miles into the bike course, "The Beast" is a 600-foot climb in a stretch of highway 7/10 of a mile long with an average grade of 14 percent and a maximum grade of 18 percent. Suggested gearing for "The Beast": Pros - 24 or higher. Accomplished - 26 or higher. Average cyclists - 26 or higher with a 39 or 42 chainring.

The inaugural Florida Half Ironman at Disney World on May 23, 2004 is now full with 2447 Participants signed up.
NEW COURSE FOR 2004 LI MARATHON
At Saturday's Wantagh Snowball Run, David Katz confirmed that the 2004 edition of the Long Island Marathon (& Half Marathon?) will be held and, in breaking with the long history of the race, it will not be on the parkways.
Katz promised that details will be available soon, including, we assume, a date for the event. In recent years, the LI Marathon has been held on the first Sunday in May.

IRONMAN Hoyts featured on TODAY show
Friday marks an unprecedented day in Ironman history when NBC's TODAY SHOW shares the experience of two remarkable competitors with the world. Team Hoyt, a father and son duo have completed the 2.4 mile swim, the 112-mile bike and the 26.2 mile run twice, despite the challenges of Rick's crippling cerebral palsy. The incredible duo joined more than 1,600 athletes at the starting line for the 2004 Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on October 18.
For the first time ever, NBC Sports will be showcasing 25 years of Ironman history and the anniversary race during prime time on Saturday, December 6 from 5-6 p.m. and 8-9 p.m.
TUNE INTO THE TODAY SHOW ON NBC FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5 FROM 7-9 A.M.
The NBC Today Show segment featuring Team Hoyt and Ironman's 25th Anniversary World Championship will be airing at 7:49 a.m. and will be introduced by anchor, Lester Holt.
